IAFF-FC Appoints New Deputy Director for Foundation

The IAFF Financial Corporation (IAFF-FC) welcomes Jenny Hanie as the new Deputy Director of Foundation Management. Hanie will oversee fundraising efforts for the Foundation and develop a long-term strategy for keeping the Foundation fiscally healthy.

Hiring Hanie was made possible after the IAFF-FC created an LLC, or limited liability company, for nonprofit and foundation management. The purpose of the LLC is to manage the Foundation. To ensure all donations are used solely for the Foundation’s programs (and not toward administrative costs), the IAFF-FC will fund Hanie’s salary.

“On behalf of the IAFF, I would like to congratulate Jenny on her new position with the IAFF-FC and the Foundation,” says General President Edward Kelly. “With her great work at the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) and with the Fill the Boot program, I am confident she is the right person to continue to strengthen the Foundation’s ability to support our members and their families.”

The Foundation currently provides disaster relief, scholarships for children of fallen members, burn injury assistance and support for families attending the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, among other programs.

“It is an honor to be working to support the Foundation’s mission,” says Hanie. “IAFF members are on the frontlines helping people every day. The Foundation will be there for them when they need assistance.”

Hanie comes to the IAFF-FC from MDA, where she served as National Director for Fill the Boot. Together, the IAFF and MDA raise an average $26 million annually to fight neuromuscular diseases.

Hanie also helped the First Responder Benefit Association, a new nonprofit organization, launch its mission to direct tax-free financial support to families of fallen first responders who die in the line of duty.
